Bee Informed Partnership Launches Campaign to Save the Bees & Thanksgiving

Honey bees pollinate 1 in 3 bites of food we eat.

In time for Thanksgiving and the holidays, the Bee Informed Partnership (BIP), the most trusted source of data on the health of America's honey bees, has launched a campaign to raise public awareness of the vital roles that honey bees and beekeepers play in pollinating and producing many of the foods we love -- especially at this time of year.

“The prospect of Thanksgiving without apple pie is grim. I look forward to it every year,” says beekeeper and BIP board member David Mendes. “Do most people think about bees when they take that first bite of pie? I doubt it.”

Through this multimedia campaign, Americans will learn more about where their food comes from and can take action to help improve the ability of beekeepers to manage the health of their honey bees. “A lot of people ask me what’s happening with honey bees and how they can help. Through this campaign they can do both – learn and help,” adds BIP director Dennis vanEnglesdorp.

The campaign is now live and will run through December 30th, 2016. By participating in the campaign, the pubic will play a direct role in helping save bees and save Thanksgiving. People can take action in the following three ways:

  1. Donate to the campaign and save the bees

  2. Share with family and friends on social media

  3. Visit the Bee Informed Partnership website to learn more about honey bee health

About the Bee Informed Partnership:

The Bee Informed Partnership is a collaboration of efforts across the country from some of the leading research labs and universities in agriculture and science to better understand honey bee declines in the United States.
