Bridgeport religious leaders are asking for the public's help to assist a family of six left homeless by a house fire over the weekend.

Lori Tracy and her five grandchildren are currently staying at a hotel in Bridgeport, courtesy of the Red Cross. They can only stay at the hotel temporarily.

Samaris Rose, of Faith Outreach Church, is a minster praying with the family and helping to coordinate a relief effort. Rose is asking for the public's helping finding long-term housing after a fire ripped through the apartment on the second floor of a two-family home on Bond Street Saturday. The fire killed three of their five cats.

"A person like her that's trying to help out where she can, and to lose everything and for these kids to suffer and have nothing, they walked away with nothing, it breaks my heart," says Rose.

The minister tells News 12 Connecticut that their the situation is critical.
