IRS: Average tax refunds lower this year
The Internal Revenue Service says tax returns are lower this year compared to 2018.
According to IRS data, the average refund is $1,949 compared to $2,135 last year.
Experts blame the drop on the 2017 tax bill which lowered most individual rates and nearly doubled the standard deduction.
Under the new tax law this year, experts say most people got more in take-home pay every month.
Financial experts recommend adjusting withholdings now if you want a bigger payout on a return next year.
