A bus driver trying to avoid a deer swerved and hit a telephone pole and a tree, officials say.

The accident happened on Marshal Lake Road near Mountain Road in Torrington Tuesday. Officials say nine students were on the bus. They were not injured.

The driver sustained minor leg injuries. The students were taken to school by a different bus. The road was shut down while the accident was cleared.
