State Sen. Biaggi hosts end-of-summer celebration at Loreto Playground
Morris Park residents flocked to Loreto Playground Sunday for an end-of-summer celebration.
State Sen. Alessandra Biaggi (D-Bronx) hosted the event to bring the community together and share different support resources.
Those who came out experienced a live band, while also getting information from groups like the Morris Park Business Improvement District, Roadmap to Health and more.
Some residents told News 12 they were upset that Biaggi did not continue former state Sen. Jeff Klein's tradition of the summer concert series.
Biaggi tells News 12 that the end-of-summer celebration wasn't put on in response to the backlash, but rather something that her office had already planned.
The event had live music, games, food and a chance for residents to speak with Biaggi one-on-one.
"We're partnering with different organizations in the community with to do activities, as well as to make sure, again, that people can come and meet me and have their voices be heard, but we're just getting started," Biaggi said. "We're in month eight and so this is a wonderful way to kind of get things kicked off."
Biaggi says her office will have a town hall coming up soon.
Her team will also be opening an office in Riverdale and they are continuing to look for a space on the East Side of the Bronx.
