The School Diversity Advisory Group impaneled by the mayor and schools Chancellor Richard Caranza is recommending the city redistrict its public schools and scrap the Gifted and Talented program.
The panel recommends redrawing school-district lines citywide to "fully integrate" them within 10 years.
They say this is to make every school the exact racial mix of the entire borough.
It is also suggesting getting rid of the highly sought after Gifted and Talented program, as well as nearly all screening processes, which admits students based on factors such as grades, behavior and attendance.
