A threat in Carteret prompted the evacuation of the Amazon fulfillment center.
Carteret police have not released much information about the threat, which was reported around 11:30 a.m. Monday.
A spokesperson for Amazon says that the center was evacuated “out of an abundance of caution.”
“We take the safety of our employees and buildings seriously and are working closely with local law enforcement on their investigation,” spokesperson Rachel Lighty said in a statement.
Exit 12 on the New Jersey Turnpike was closed for a time while police investigated the threat and has since reopened.
