The family of a Stratford man who police say was killed by a drunk driver last week spoke with News 12 Friday about the fatal crash.
Tributes mark the spot at Barnum Avenue and Beach Street where police say 39-year-old Jose Alamo-Diaz was killed.
Family members say he went by his middle name, David.
Police say 27-year-old Moniece McNeil was drunk when her Volkswagen Passat plowed into Alamo-Diaz as he was crossing the street around 1:30 a.m.
Venessa Chao, the victim's fiancée and the mother to their 2-month-old son, says she is heartbroken by the sudden tragic loss.
"I want justice to be served on behalf of David. She robbed him from us, from a baby,” she told News 12. “He will never get to take his son to school. He will never be there to see his son graduate, get married, have children…I have to play mom and dad right now and it's painful and it's not fair."
Court records show McNeil is free on a $75,000 bond.
The victim's family has set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with his infant son.
