The New York City Council voted Monday to suspend Councilman Andy King for misconduct toward his staff.
The council's Ethics Committee accused King of stepping over boundaries with his staff. King and his lawyer continue to deny the allegations. The allegations go back to 2017 when he was accused of sexual harassment, which eventually led to a second probe early this year.
A report released by the City Council accuses King of retaliating against staffers, disorderly conduct, conflicts of interest and harassment while in office.
The more than 40-page report alleges King misused council resources to benefit himself and his wife, claiming King tried to terminate employees who spoke with council investigators.
King fired back, stating the process has not been fair. On one occasion, King says he and an attorney were left waiting to speak to council investigators who never showed.
On Saturday, King publicly spoke out and addressed these allegations saying they would be heading to court today to delay the council's vote. They plan on filing an Article 78, which allows for the challenging of a city agency's action or inaction.
