Potentially damaging winds expected to hit Long Island overnight
Potentially damaging winds are expected to hit Long Island overnight, according to News 12 meteorologists.
A wind advisory for Nassau County and southern Suffolk County is in effect through 6 a.m. A high wind warning is in effect for the East End, through 6 a.m., where winds could gust at about 60 mph.
Heavy winds will raise the potential for power outages and falling trees.
A mix of heavy rain and scattered showers are expected through 4 a.m.
Temperatures will be in the 40s Friday morning.
